U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder held a press conference this week to discuss the results of his investigation into last year’s crisis in Ferguson. What you heard Holder emphasize probably depends on how you interpret the racially-charged tragedy that took place in that northern suburb of St. Louis.
Either…
Holder said that the “Hands Up! Don’t Shoot!” rally cry for civil rights isn’t based on any historical account of what actually happened that day. The four word battle cry came about based on the idea that police officer Darren Wilson gunned down teenager Michael Brown, even as the youth had his hands up high in the air and had surrendered.
Or…
Holder said that the Ferguson police department has a long-standing pattern of racial profiling and bias, brought about by an unhealthy emphasis of raising revenue via law enforcement. And, that Ferguson does not act in vacuum, but that municipal courts throughout Missouri behave and encourage such action from the executive branches of government across the state.
Actually, Holder emphasized both.

It seems to go unnoticed that nearly every incidence of police shooting men of color involves lack of respect for and resistance to authority.
What does this say about their parental guidance, their mores, their “society?”
Good points. I suggest Holder extended the pattern when the two Black Panthers intimidated voters at a Philadelphia were excused. Rather than tamp down racism, both Obama and Holder have fanned the coals and now the coals are leaping with fire.
Lawlessness at the top encourages lawlessness at the lowest levels of society.
We do need to elect another healer or uniter but a president and administration that pulls the blindfold over Lady Justice’s eyes and
administers the law without favor.
