Liberals within the Presbyterian Church (USA) are accusing other liberals of not being liberal enough.
Recently the faculty at the Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia issued a call to the denomination and its members.
Carmen Fowler LaBerge of the Presbyterian Lay Committee tells OneNewsNow the call relates to the homosexual marriage issue the convention will soon consider. The faculty is asking the church for “mutual forbearance,” she says.

The PCUSA is an entity is based upon “tribalism” or identity/narrow focus constituent group theology. Gay/feminist/New Age/pagan belief systems under the denominational umbrella. When one aspect of the liberal tribe/queer/gay nation establishment accuse their like minded breather of lack of zeal or purity, the end is near for them. As the finances, money, people of the organization begins to recede, and they strive to get to the denominational money trees before they die, these little food fights and dust-ups will become more common. Just sit back and watch as the infighting and accusations fly. As a football star used to say, get the popcorn ready. The show is about to start.
But I already made a commitment to leave when the vote for redefining marriage is passed.
I think Carmen is right that there won’t be a mass exodus. Most of those strongly opposing the liberal agenda have probably already left. Suppose the 100 thousand membership loss following passage of 10-A is doubled following passage of a same-sex “marriage” measure; that still leaves 1.5 million PCUSA members. Many of them are conservative — but they will stay, for any number of reasons: Refusal to leave a local church for which they feel a sense of ownership; reluctance to leave good friends who are staying; perhaps just inertia. So, PCUSA will survive, though undoubtedly weakened even more than it has been already.
Years ago, when our church was in its discernment process, I wrote a booklet called “Lost at Sea” describing the drift of the PCUSA away from biblical orthodoxy. Recently I’ve come to realize that when the purpose of your journey is simply to escape from something (for example, God’s revealed claim on our lives), no destination is required. Given “diversity” as a fundamental value, it may not even be possible to figure out where you want to go. Away is enough; any direction will do. And so the PCUSA wanders with nothing but the vagaries of human opinion to direct it.
I suppose at some point there will be an announcement at church that a gay wedding will be happening on Saturday (or maybe not). Perhaps ministers will be able to continue to straddle the issue so the congregation will never find out. Wow! Wouldn’t that be something.
I don’t think so, Don. The gay-lesbian crowd has taken over the PCUSA, and won’t be content until it’s 100% of what is left, and they won’t be able to sustain the property they hold. It’ll all be be sold off to continue their warped sense of direction.
I think this article is very helpful for people,it has solved our problem, thanks!
