It is hard not to feel sorry for Heath Rada, the newly elected moderator of the Presbyterian Church (USA). He just got himself elected to one of the most important posts in a very troubled institution and now he has to defend its actions.
Right after the General Assembly of his denomination met in Detroit and approved an overture that instructs his denomination to sell $21 million worth of stock in companies whose products are used by the Israeli government, he appeared on CNN and was asked some pretty direct questions by journalists who miraculously enough, were intent on doing their job!
Rada had a very difficult time responding.
Not only was Rada challenged by his hosts on CNN about the wisdom of the decision to divest from companies that do business with Israel, he was challenged over the sale of some ugly propaganda on PC(USA)’s website.

I wish him luck, he seems an old man who really should be doing something else. Trying to defend pagan anti-Semites is a full time job. Whatever they pay him, is he grossly underpaid.
I think Dr. Rada did as good a job as possible in that interview. The reason it went so poorly for him was not – as some have claimed – that the questions were biased or even too difficult. IT was an interview, not a press release, and the questions asked were reasonable; they were questions many outside the rarefied atmosphere of Presbyterian national politics would have; and they were all brought to the attention of commissioners before they voted.
The reason the interview seemed bad for Dr. Rada was a direct result of the fact that his job is to represent GA221’s actions. It was these actions that were indefensible – because they were self-contradictory and the product of a skewed and corrupted process that has been going on within many parts of the the PC(USA)’s staff, “leadership”, permanent committees, and networks for more than 10 years.
As the denomination implodes, one can only hope that Caterpillar equipment will be used in the razing of denominational headwaters in Louisville….

The PCUSA has revealed its anti-Semitism to the world. They should be supporting Isreal instead of suicide bombers.
This latest anti-Israel action tracks with other hateful actions by PC(USA). The apostasy, hypocrisy and heresy coming out of the denomination saddens many and, sadly, will continue based on the actions of the most recent General Assembly.
