All eyes have been fixed this week on the birth of a child who is heir to a throne. We do not yet know his name but we watched with joy as his parents wed two years ago and we wonder with great anticipation what his royal life will be like. Most people look on as if through the looking glass of a fairy tale, missing the eternal reality that every child is a child of the King!
My step-daughter has a bright pink t-shirt that declares “I’m a princess because my Father is the King!” So am I and so are you. When you encounter another Christian today consider that they are a child of God and, therefore, royal. They are also your brother or your sister, for you too are a member of the royal priesthood.
You are a child of the King of kings and Lord of lords, created in God’s image and bearing in the image of Christ into the fallen and broken world that He so loves. You are His ambassador, His royal representative, His co-heir of heaven and a child of His sovereignty.
Live into your true identity today. Not lording it over others but with the humility and responsibility that comes with the honor and privilege of being a royal heir. Pray for the new infant king born in Great Britain and pray for every other baby that they too may come to know and live as the children of the living God who reigns over all.
