We know the name Isaac from the Bible. It means “he laughed.” No one is laughing today as tropical storm Isaac wreaks havoc on the Gulf Coast of the United States. Those in Isaac’s path have endured devasting flooding due to sea water pushed ashore and rain that has been described by even secular media as “biblical” in its proportions. Our prayers arise with your prayers for the people of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and those in points north where the storm is now headed. May God grant mercy and grace and may the Church be found faithful and ready to respond as the waters rise and as they recede.
