Each week we pray for the United States, one state at a time.
This week we lift in prayer the state of Massachusetts.
The state has a robust motto:
Ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem
Loosely translated as: “By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty.“”
The motto was first adopted by the then-colony in 1775, so it carries with it great historical significance in connection with the American Revolutionary.
