Our friends at The Outreach Foundation sent word to us today that the Rev. Dr. John W. “Jay” Coker, Jr., will join their staff as a Mission Advocate.
Coker finished a distinguished twenty-one year pastorate serving First Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Over the years, he has served on the Board of Trustees for the Foundation and led as its chair. He begins the work in August and will continue to live in Fayetteville.
Rob Weingartner, Executive Director of the Foundation, wrote:
In this critical time for our extended Presbyterian family, Outreach is working to increase our capacity to establish and nurture relationships with individuals and congregations in support of the mission of The Outreach Foundation around the world. I am thankful that Jay has accepted my invitation to serve with us, adding to the excellent work of our existing staff his own deep faith, commitment to God’s mission and connections across the life of the church. Jay will preach, speak and lead mission trips on behalf of Outreach, help congregations discern how they can participate in God’s mission, and collaborate with our staff leadership team as we serve the church and implement the vision of our Board of Trustees.
Congratulations to The Outreach Foundation! Jay Coker is widely known and deeply respected within the Presbyterian family.
