The 212th General Assembly (2000) adopted a Commissioners’ Resolution asking
for the production of ” educational forums and dialogue regarding the
relationship between Reformed theology and contemporary theologies of
women.”
In response to this CR, Women’s Ministries proposed the drafting and
publication of several booklets or primers. At that time, I suggested that a
primer on orthodox Reformed theology be among those published.
Women’s Ministries has recently announced the completion of its series of
booklets on alternative women’s theologies — without one representing the
historic faith of the church. Viola Larson has written a critique of these
primers that can be found by clicking on the following link:

A Critique of Four Primers about Feminist Theology [1]
To provide a fuller introduction to the primers, we are reprising an article
that appeared on these pages several years ago, and suggest that you take
the time to read it. Written by the Girl Preacher, Tracee Hackle, the
article summarizes the history of the pamphlets produced by Women’s
Ministries, and argues that because their is no orthodox voice among them,
they are simply monologues that fail to offer the kind of dialogue so
desperately needed in today’s church. You may read it by clicking on the

Each of these documents will take time to read, and require you to think
critically. But, the hard work involved will be worth the effort. After all,
there are no easy answers to complex questions.
