On September 3, 2009, the Presbytery of Charlotte will be sponsoring a full-day anti-human-trafficking training conducted by the Freedom Network Training Institute, an educational effort co-founded by the Coalition of Immokalee Workers that has trained US Department of Justice, FBI, law enforcement, social service providers and clergy nationwide.
These trainings are able to be offered for free for groups that can convene at least 70 people from their communities. The trainings are designed for people on the front-lines of contact with modern-day slavery survivors, which include clergy. In November 2007, the Long Island
Presbytery sponsored a successful training that brought together members from across their community. To learn about how your presbytery could sponsor a training, contact the Rev. Noelle Damico of the PC(USA) Campaign for Fair Food at Noelle.damico@pcusa.org or 631-751-7076
