A summer camp is trying to make a comeback after being blasted by the Memorial Day weekend floods of 2015. The camp received $250,000 for the John Knox Ranch from First Presbyterian Church San Antonio and Mission Presbytery.
The ranch hosts 500 children every summer.
“This is a real special place to me. I look around and see the beauty of the Hill Country. This brings back great memories. Saw many kids come to Christ here on this premises,” said Ron Scates of First Presbyterian Church.
“The goal is to rebuild a dining hall which is going to cost around $1 million,” said Ruben Armendariz of Mission Presbytery.
“It’s a significant step in the way forward as we think about rebuilding and building a new dining hall,” said Kathy Anderson, John Knox Ranch Executive Director.

This was a small part of the ransom First Pres San Antonio paid to get out of PCUSA. The remaining $4 million plus went directly into Mission Presbytery’s pocket. At the February Presbytery Meeting, the Committee on Ministry proposed not releasing any more churches to ECO. The vote failed . . . this time.
You’d think that they would give the ranch the entire cost of replacing the dining hall, after all, it would allow the ranch to continue its mission to children and adults both young and old.
Then again, if they spend it, they won’t have any. Hmmm, didn’t someone relate a parable about storehouses at one time?
This speaks volumes about First Pres San Antonio after all the crap that mission presbytery put this church through, and I mean volumes……..
The largest portion of the money went to fund Mission Presbytery’s bullying of smaller churches…new cash for the property fights. But glad to see that the press had a positive report on this.
