A Christmas prayer

Holy God, we bow before you this day full of wonder at the One who comes full of grace and truth.
We admit that kneeling at His manger throne feels at once awkward and conspicuous, and yet peace and gratitude and joy well up within us. The radiance and innocence and splendor of this infant King is more than we could have imagined, more than that for which we dared to pray, certainly a gift we know we do not deserve and for which we could never hope to reciprocate. O God! What were you thinking? Sending One so helpless to save the world? Sending One so small to be so great? Sending One so pure to bear such filth? Sending One so innocent to carry the weight of such guilt? O God! Make us able to see the One whom you have sent for all He is: Christ the Lord!
With angel chorus we sing His praise, this moment, this day and forevermore! Allelujah! Amen!
