By James Warden, Minnetonka Patch.
High school seniors Cody Kirk and Joy Gresham from St. Luke Presbyterian Church in Minnetonka have helped to convince the Presbytery of the Twin Cities Area to divest its endowments of all stocks and bonds in fossil fuel companies, according to a St. Luke’s news release.
Kirk and Gresham had been working with other youth to raise awareness about climate change. They had three minutes on Saturday to make their case that the Presbyterian Foundation and Board of Pensions should not invest any of its nearly $10 billion in funds to fossil fuel companies.

Well-meaning but ill-informed and deluded children. And adults.
Delusional. Another display of the power of propaganda. ” Climate change ” , after millions of years, is now OUR FAULT. And, of course, fossil fuels were deposited by Satan just to lead us astray. For such illogical conclusions to be used to change investment policy is yet another example of presbyteries gone clueless. This is more than indefensible and ridiculous , it is pathetic. Where are our churches in North Dakota? Have they abandoned all logic to the forces of propaganda?
How would these two children feel if their parents worked for a coal company or at an oil refinery? I’ll bet they drove to the meeting at which they spoke. Shame on the adults at that presbytery meeting.
There are many secular organizations to which one can belong that have strong feelings about saving the earth from global warming———-if one feels so inclined perhaps joining one of them would give the opportunity to share the unique mission of the Church——-“go and make disciples—-baptize—-teach all things which the Lord commanded…”(Matthew 28:18-20)————————–John
You are clueless. This is not a matter of propoganda nor religion. Shame on these adults, no shame on you. Because if you deny climate change… I don’t know what to say. Because it’s not a matter of speculation now, climate change is a fact it is happening now and will not go away over night. It is the adult generationcs reaponsability to leave this world in good shape for mine. The fact that those adults who deny there is a no problem with letting off CO2, and radioisoptopes and contaminating water are sick. It is wonderful to see today’s youth fixing the problem at hand, but to see adults just sit around all cozy and nonchalant is just sad. If you follow the news, learn ecology and biology. Go to school again in some cases you will see there is a problem. And it Damn sure needs to be fixed for us and later generations.
Wow, and here I am thanking God for energy sources as His gift to us. Silly me. Well, thank you, Lord, anyway.
