Planting churches is part of a rich St. Andrew Presbyterian Church’s history and part of their 2020 Vision to create new ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians churches from an existing church. The thoughtful, engaged, evangelical mission of ECO is: “To build flourishing churches that make disciples of Jesus Christ.”
“God is on the move in the world, and we seek to join Him. Discipleship is inherently an active and externally focused pursuit,” states Richard Kannwischer, lead pastor of St. Andrew’s. “It is not so much that we have a mission as a church, but that we follow Jesus Christ in His mission. This calling pushes us beyond meeting our own needs and sends us into new communities to reveal God’s goodness.”
The Lord has provided the means, the people and the timing to help fulfill a vital need for a church like St. Andrew’s in South County. Although there are many wonderful examples of faithful churches in the region, St. Andrew’s will meet a need by extending the leadership, values and traditions that have been central to St. Andrew’s ministry for over 70 years.
Over the past six months, a group of families and individuals have joined with staff and lay leaders from St. Andrew’s to form a core team to pray, seek God’s will and begin formulating plans for this new church campus. The team is excited to begin sharing the good news as it seeks a potential location. Options under consideration include existing church sites as well as commercial locations.
The team shared, “As we continue to prepare for the future, we are prayerful and excited for the future families and individuals who will make the new St. Andrew’s site their church home. You are invited to contact the core team with any questions you may have and we invite you to come be a part of this new St. Andrew’s church family!”
