The congregation of the Peters Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church will vacate its location on Brookwood Road in Venetia at the end of next month, essentially closing the door on a lengthy legal battle over the ownership of the building that rose from a split in church membership nearly a decade ago.
Beginning May 3, the 309-member Peters Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church will meet in the Parish Hall of St. David’s Episcopal Church on East McMurray Road.
In 2007, the church, then known as Peters Creek United Presbyterian Church, voted to leave Presbyterian Church (USA) for the more conservative Evangelical Presbyterians. In May 2014, the Commonwealth Court ruled the title to the property belongs to the minority, not the breakaway group.
The congregation has given the Washington Presbytery a 30-day advance notice required to leave the property. Its last Sunday service will be April 26. It will also mark the end of 220 years of continuous worship at the location.

Martin Luther surely understood what it would take to stand for the integrity of God’s Word when he penned the words, “let goods and kindred go”. Thankfully the believers of this congregation will not have to realize the remainder of that lyric. I am inspired by their courage.

That’s ironic, with that said, welcome to the future of the pcusa diving into ecusa’s past.
The Lord is faithful. New doors and new properties will open.
Christian faith is not about the salvation of “properties.” The sooner we are willing to let go of our idols and citadels the better! Our witness is not dependent on any particular address or architecture or even “legacy,” but on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We may be waking up to this fact, albeit slowly. Shake off the grave clothes and come out…
Well said.
My thoughts from the beginning. Well put.
My favorite hymn, and what an apt phrase you’ve chosen from it.
You…are…my…hero!!! I cant believe something like this exists on the internet! Its so true, so honest, and more than that you dont sound like an idiot! Finally, someone who knows how to talk about a subject without sounding like a kid who didnt get that bike he wanted for Christmas.

What you said made a lot of sense. But, think about this, what if you added a little content? I mean, I dont want to tell you how to run your blog, but what if you added something to maybe get peoples attention? Just like a video or a picture or two to get people excited about what youve got to say. In my opinion, it would make your blog come to life a little bit.
