Blogs, videos offer link
to Lausanne Congress
The Layman, October 22, 2010
The Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization in Cape Town, South Africa may be happening half a world away, but information from the event is readily available thanks to active bloggers and live video feeds.
The Lausanne Movement event has brought together 4,000 leaders from more than 200 countries to discuss the future of the Church and world evangelization. The event continues through Oct. 25.
Earlier in the week, cyber attacks shut down attempts to share the conference with Internet users around the world, but the information is again freely flowing. In addition to the 600 “Globalink” events corresponding with Lausanne, an archive of videos from the event is available.
Also disseminating information are a variety of official Lausanne blogs and event participants posting to their own blogs. Several Presbyterians, included in the blog list below, also are filing reports from the conference:
- Highland Park Presbyterian Church, which sent several participants including Senior Pastor Ron Scates
- Reformed Theological Seminary-Orlando President and Evangelical Presbyterian Church Pastor Don Sweeting
- PCUSA Pastor Richard Haney
- PCA Pastor and Chancellor/CEO Elect of Reformed Theological Seminary Michael Anthony Milton
- Lausanne’s official blog
- Christianity Today’s Lausanne blog
- Anglican Mainstream

Ligonier raising funds to lobby Congress
Through the use of Facebook and Twitter, Ligonier Ministries has launched a fund-raising campaign in hopes of having a pro-life influence on the U.S. Congress.
With a funding goal of $6,000, Ligonier wants to send a copy of R.C. Sproul’s book Abortion: A Rational Look at an Emotional Issue along with a letter to each member of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. The cost is $10 per copy for the effort, according to Ligonier Ministries.
“To be honest, this is a book we wish we did not have to release and an issue we wish we did not have to address,” said Chris Larson, executive vice president of Ligonier Ministries. “But the fact remains that legalized abortion on demand is a moral scourge. Our prayer is that God would use Dr. Sproul’s book to change minds and persuade hearts regarding the inalienable rights of the unborn.”
