LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Central Jersey Moderator Candidate Host Committee will be hosting a Meet and Greet event involving all four candidates for moderator of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
The event will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville (2688 Main Street (Route 206), Lawrenceville, NJ 08648) from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 25. All interested parties are invited to attend.
The Presbyterian Church (USA) holds its national General Assembly every two years. The 218th General Assembly will be held June 21-28 in San Jose, Calif. One of the four candidates attending the Lawrenceville event will ultimately be elected moderator of the General Assembly. The moderator leads the General Assembly meeting and then, for the next two years, serves as an ambassador for the Presbyterian denomination.
The candidates are:
- Rev. Bill Teng of Alexandria, Va.
- Rev. Bruce Reyes-Chow of San Francisco, Calif.
- Elder Roger Shoemaker of Lincoln, Neb.
- Rev. Carl Mazza of Elkton, Md.
“It’s wonderful that the members of the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville and other area Presbyterians get a chance to meet the future leader of the PCUSA General Assembly,” said the Rev. Jeffrey Vamos, pastor of the host church.
