The Layman Online, February 17, 2000
Colorado Springs, CO – NavPress Publishing Group, Discipleship Journal and the Heritage Keepers Conference will award an all-expense-paid weekend retreat with author Carol Kent based on the winning entry in the national Woman of Influence essay contest. The contest is being held in conjunction with the release of Becoming a Woman of Influence by Carol Kent.
Women, ages 18 and over, are invited to submit an essay of 500 to 1500 words, sharing their personal story of how they were impacted by someone special in their life; what that person taught them, the joys they shared, or the tears they dried. The person might have been a long time mentor or a passing acquaintance that had a profound impact.
Becoming a Woman of Influence is designed to educate and inspire women about the importance of mentoring relationships. “Women are in just the right place and time to influence others with their experience, wisdom, and innate leadership, and to improve the world by mentoring and sharing their ideas with others,” says Kent, an internationally known speaker, writer, and president of the Christian speaker’s bureau Speak Up Speaker Services.
Essay contest entries can be sent, with name, address, phone, and e-mail to Women of Influence Contest, P.O. Box 35001, Colorado Springs, CO 80935. Entries can also be submitted via the Internet at www.womenofinfluence.net, or by e-mail at womenofinfluence@navpress.com. Contest entry deadline is June 15, 2000.
