Kirk’s session recommends
rejecting property buyout
The Layman, October 17, 2008
Kirk of the Hills had an informational meeting Wednesday night (Oct. 15) in which questions were asked regarding the Eastern Oklahoma Presbytery proposal to give the Kirk a clear title to the property for $1.75 million, according to a report from Peggy A. Alexander, a member of the church.
She said the transcript of the October 6 court hearing was released October 13, and the Kirk session met October 14 to review and discuss it.
“The Kirk session voted to recommend that the congregation reject the offer to buy the property,” she said.
“Although the judge made a ruling from the bench against the Kirk, there are many issues to be decided and no final judgment has been handed down.”
She asked friends of the Kirk to continue “to pray for God’s guidance for the Kirk congregation as they vote to accept or reject the offer at a meeting to be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, October 19. No matter what the outcome, the Kirk will continue its ministry of spreading the Gospel, bring people to Jesus Christ, nurturing them in their faith, and sending them out to minister to others.”
