Amendment 10-A supporters increase lead

Supporters of Amendment 10-A saw the vote swing further in their favor during another weekend of voting on new language for the Presbyterian Church (USA)’s ordination standards.
Three more presbyteries that had previously have supported the standards as currently worded (North Alabama, South Alabama and Savannah) favored the new language approved by the General Assembly last July. For South Alabama, the difference was a single vote.
According to various online sources, an additional 11 presbyteries cast “yes” votes favoring Amendment 10-A since Feb. 15, pushing the overall vote total to 47-35. A total of 87, a majority of the PCUSA’s 173 presbyteries, votes are needed to ratify or reject the proposed amendment.
Among the presbyteries casting yes votes include
- Chicago (185-61)
- Greater Atlanta (262-157)
- Hudson River (81-6)
- John Knox (60-19)
- New Hope (158-118)
- Northern Waters (39-14)
- North Alabama (36-28)
- Savannah (40-33)
- Scioto Valley (118-65)
- South Alabama (34-33)
Among the presbyteries casting no votes were:
- Lake Erie (36-44)
- Olympia (39-78)
- Palo Duro (35-50)
- Pines (36-44)
- Suroeste
