Recently the national office of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) was contacted by people who received a mailing with a Canadian postmark and a cover letter which says “Presbyterian Church Grant.” The letter includes the address of the PC(USA) national offices in Louisville, Kentucky. The letter purports to announce that the person has been awarded a grant from the Grants Association or the Grant Board of Commission. The letter includes a check allegedly issued on an account from PNC Bank.
Anyone who receives this letter notification is warned that this letter is a fake and the grant award is a scam. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) does not have a Grant Board of Commission or Grants Association. Although the PC(USA) awards grants, the PC(USA) did not send out these particular grant award notices. People who receive this notice are advised to disregard it. The PC(USA) has notified the Federal Trade Commission of this scam and has contacted PNC Bank.
