Thanks, friend, for a clear, concise, and candid summary of the atmosphere and actions at the genesis of this year’s GA. I will be checking in daily and, with you, praying our problems are not more than technological. BTW, I recall a meeting in Chicago when you held another position with our renewalists and chided the assembled that Presbyterians have an inflated sense of position in contemporary Christendom; as if the culture(s) are holding their collective breath to hear from us on issues of faith and morality. Dang, we forfeited that affection so long ago. Yet I am encouraged by many of the commissioners in attendance who still love Jesus by the book; noting my favorite proverbial founder of the CCM who will urge all to look up, stand up, speak up, and act up for Jesus alone and always. My buddy Hans says our Lord may have some unexpected miracles for this GA. Hope and pray so!!!!!!!
Now I know what Peter and Don and the others mean by the denomination being practically dead. The Scripture is 1 Corinthians 14:35: “And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.” Carmen’s shrewd and analytical reportage from General Assembly is hardly a “shame.” So it must be coming from a body other than a “church.”

Carmen, this is SO helpful, and so well-done. Thank you! I am praying, praying for you all daily. I “almost” wish I were there . . .
