Christians United for Israel, CUFI, on Tuesday (June 24) said it distributed an action alert to its membership in opposition to the Presbyterian Church USA’s recent vote to divest from three companies that do business with Israel, and, within 24 hours the alert generated more than 26,000 responses in support.
David Brog, executive director of CUFI, the largest pro-Israel organization in the U.S. with 1.6 million standing members, said, “The Presbyterian Church USA has demonstrated its moral cowardice to the world.”
“Happily, this small and shrinking denomination does not speak for America’s Christians or Americans in general,” Brog said. “We refuse to jump on this anti-Israel bandwagon. We refuse to ignore the real human suffering in the Middle East – from Syria to Iraq to Iran. And we refuse to blame Israel alone for its conflict with its Arab neighbors.”

CUFI – the pet project of John Hagee. The man who said that God sent Hitler because Jews needed some motivation to return to Palestine.
Nice – the Layman can sure pick ’em.
The times are changing. CUFI is now reported in the Layman! As followers of Christ, we have a biblical mandate and moral obligation to stand with the State of Israel and the Jewish people. Have you read the Scriptures in Genesis 12:1-3. It’s called a covenant and God never breaks covenant. Replacement theology is a false doctrine and a deceptive lie in the Western culture. We are still waiting for Layman to release an article condemning replacement theology that has become rampant among Presbyterians and covenant theology. Calvin did not go as far as Luther but he did carry a mild form of Supersessionism.
Ah, “Z” good to see you emerged once again out of the little black hole. Did you make it out of Detroit safely?
The PCUSA is not so much a collection of moral cowards, in that logic demands or presupposes a moral frame of reference to work off of. But a collection of various narrow, special, tribal, ideological driven groups and agendas cooalesed around an organizational matrix known as Louisville, or more specifically its standing organ the OGA and its Mission Agency.
Z, if my words are too big, or thoughts too expansive please refer to a dictionary.
“Co-a-lesced”
Interesting how intellect is attacked when one disagrees with an agenda. This is a usual progressive ploy to dismiss another point of view while avoiding the issue under discussion. The straw man has no dog in the fight but is put forth to distract. PCUSA has crafted its Golden Calf and the consequences will be forth coming.
Yes, posting the comment “if my words are too big, or thoughts too expansive please refer to a dictionary…” is indeed attacking the intellect of someone with whom the poster disagrees, BUT Mr. Gregory could hardly be characterized as a “progressive.” Also common on the site are posts such as the one referring to the PC(USA) as the “stoopid church,” but these also come from people that would be difficult to label as “progressive.”
