By Joseph Rossell, Juicy Ecumenism.
Canon Andrew White, the “Vicar of Baghdad,” has ministered powerfully across the Middle East, from Jerusalem to Baghdad. He shared some of his incredible experiences during a lunchtime discussion at the Institute of Religion and Democracy (IRD) on December 3.
Canon White pastored St. George’s Baghdad. The parish ministered to 550 Iraqi families outside the security of the U.S. backed coalition’s Green Zone. Canon White lived under constant threat, and some of his flock were martyred for their faith. He is currently the President of the Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East, which helps to reconcile members of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faiths.
